This week brought a wave of vendor announcements for coding agents, from new frontier models and cheaper inference to observability, rollouts, and parallel execution surfaces.
OpenAI Developers said GPT-6 Sol and Luna launched with API prices 50% lower than GPT-5.6, and that GPT-6 prompt caching was improved with higher default cache-hit rates and cached-input discounts of up to 90%.
Cognition said GPT-6 Sol and Luna are available in Devin, with Sol matching GPT-5.6 Sol on FrontierCode 1.1 at 61% lower cost per task and Luna scoring above GPT-5.6 Luna at roughly a quarter of the cost.
We identified a security incident affecting a modified Claude Code VS Code extension accessed through our Cursor IDE extension marketplace, impacting at most 5,000 users. This malicious version of the extension was not developed by Anthropic. It does not impact other extensions downloaded from the https://t.co/sJRGX5jLXW, Grok Bot, Grok or our other SpaceXSI products.
In response, we took down our extension marketplace this afternoon, worked with relevant providers to neutralize the malware, and have reinstated the marketplace after confirming there is no further risk.
If affected, please review instructions in this blog post to understand how to find the malicious package and establish a path to mitigate any potential impact. We are asking all customers update to Claude Code for VS Code version 2.1.314: https://t.co/ESqf7YEtHZ
We've evaluated Gemini 4 Carbon and Gemini 4 Argon on FrontierCode 2.0, our coding benchmark that measure's a model's ability to go beyond the spec.
Gemini 4 Carbon scores near SOTA with a score of 40% and a cost of $4.04 per task, behind Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra, and Claude Sonnet 5.5.
Gemini 4 Argon scores 26.3% with a cost of $6.41 per task, ahead of Muse Wonder 1.0, but behind Claude Haiku 5.5 and Grok 4.7.

added an old school irc chat channel to my blog recently and realized that you can literally add chat to every interface for actually $0 (as in free) with a good local dev experience now

I wrote about this in AINews last night but basically https://t.co/bx6aYCqlW8 is gathering the top 1000 AI Engineers to 1) accurately represent the 2026 SOTA in AI x Code, 2) preview 2027.
So proud to have gathered the best collection of invited attendees, speakers and sponsors to reflect the three themes that have defined this year:

Agentic Plus now has a new setting: max effort.
It's built for your gnarliest documents, where extraction accuracy matters the most.
With max effort, Agentic Plus can spend additional compute when needed, zooming in on tricky details like dense charts and diagrams to extract data more accurately.
On ExtractBench Pro, our benchmark for particularly challenging extraction tasks, accuracy improved from 77.7 to 92.9 Value F1.
Max effort uses variable pricing based on the computation required, giving you the option to prioritize extraction quality over a fixed per-page price.
